Cases, Learn, Play & Quiz

Why do case numbers differ from peaks on a moving trace?

Authored references, respiratory variation and displayed waveform measurements have different roles.

Overview

Case measurements follow the authored scenario and are revealed by stage. The linked case traces use case-specific morphology and pressure calibration rather than a single identical waveform for every case.

The case Waveform guide explains its rhythm/morphology assumptions and reference convention. End-expiratory source values need not equal every peak, trough or respiratory-time average on the moving waveform.

Where PADP, wedge and LVEDP differ, the pressure-relationship explanation provides context. Avoid inventing a pressure or rhythm solely because the case has not yet revealed it.
