Severe Aortic Stenosis

Severe AS with fixed LV outflow obstruction, a narrow pulse pressure at 115/85 mmHg, and impaired LV relaxation. LVEDP is mildly elevated, wedge is near its upper reference limit, and PVR is normal at baseline.

Overview

Select Severe Aortic Stenosis under Clinical controls → Valves. The bold italic live label confirms the active selection. These are the preset’s teaching features; combined disease, rate and interventions can change the resulting numbers.

Severe AS with fixed LV outflow obstruction, a narrow pulse pressure at 115/85 mmHg, and impaired LV relaxation. LVEDP is mildly elevated, wedge is near its upper reference limit, and PVR is normal at baseline.

Fixed LV–aortic obstruction produces delayed arterial upstroke; LVEDP can exceed mean wedge in the stiff LV.

This is an isolated valve phenotype with normal PVR. Pulmonary hypertension can be added to represent a precapillary component.

Congestion is not obligatory in chronic valve disease. Add filling pressure or myocardial dysfunction to explore decompensation.

Step by step

  1. Reset interventions if you want the untreated example.
  2. Select the condition and inspect the pressure summary and relevant waveforms.
  3. Pause for annotations; add one intervention or loading change to compare the response.
