Hypovolemic Shock

Reduced circulating volume lowers venous return and filling pressures, producing low output and hypotension.

Overview

Select Hypovolemic Shock under Clinical controls → Hemodynamic state. The bold italic live label confirms the active selection. These are the preset’s teaching features; combined disease, rate and interventions can change the resulting numbers.

Reduced circulating volume lowers venous return and filling pressures, producing low output and hypotension.

RA, RV end-diastolic and wedge pressures are low in this illustrative preset.

Sinus tachycardia at 120 bpm accompanies a narrow systemic pulse pressure and low forward output.

Derived systemic vascular resistance is elevated, representing compensatory vasoconstriction.

Bleeding and oxygen-carrying capacity changes are not modeled. Fluids illustrate volume loading; IABP does not replace circulating volume.

Step by step

  1. Reset interventions if you want the untreated example.
  2. Select the condition and inspect the pressure summary and relevant waveforms.
  3. Pause for annotations; add one intervention or loading change to compare the response.
